And Then There Were None
Jamie: For those who do not know much about you, tell them who you are and how you got started?
Matt M: My name is Matt. Originally the band was a metal band for many years until about a year ago when we had some member changes and starting writing euro-dance music.
Jamie: And Then There Were None is an interesting name…where did it come from?
Matt M: Matt R was searching for band names on a book website and then there were none was in between As I Lay Dying and Aerosmith I think. So I guess he thought they did well so he picked it.
Jamie: What do you think makes your music stand out among other bands?
Matt M: I think we have something different to offer. We took Euro-dance and added guitars and made it more of our own. There is no one out there doing this that I am aware of so I think thats pretty stand out.
Jamie: A unique sound is always awesome! What has been your favorite place you have performed so far?
Matt M: We had a great west coast tour over the summer with huge shows that were great. I love the pacific northwest. I honestly love the shows that are in small VFW’s that kids just pack in and its gets hot in sweaty. DIY shows just rule.
Jamie: What band that you have performed with has been your favorite?
Matt M: Our friends the Minus scale and Us against the archers. Best bands in the area.
Jamie: What do you think about the Boston/NH scene?
Matt M: I think its changed a ton over the years. It seems to be slowly coming back to what it use to be. I think more and more kids are going to shows and its getting really fun. I’m really excited about it.
Jamie: I agree. So being on stage…does your band have any pre-show rituals?
Matt M: We have a ton of equipment and our set up time is a lot longer than most bands so we don’t really have time to do anything exciting. Usually its just a big cluster and everyone gets in everyones way.
Jamie: Tons of equipment? What kinds of stuff do you need on stage?
Matt M: We have 2 bass cabs. 2 guitar cabs, a sub woofer, synth cabs. computers, and cables everywhere.
Jamie: Oh wow a lot. Have you ever had an embarrassing moments on stage?
Matt M: Last show matt took off my shirt at the end of the set. It was so out of the blue I think it was more scary than embarrassing, but its not the way I like to end a set.
Jamie: Took off your shirt?
Matt M: Yes. Hahaha
Jamie: If you could tour with any band who would it be and why?
Matt M: Basshunter and Alkaline Rrio. My favorite Euro Dance band, and my favorite band of all time. I would smile the whole time.
Jamie: So Tooth and Nail, you must be stoked about that?
Matt M: Easily our favorite label ever. Mxpx is the reason I listen to music. so many great bands. Anberlin, Mae, Further seems Forever, Underoath. Oh man so many!
Jamie: Wow haven’t heard anyone reference Further Seems Forever in well…forever.
Matt M: Moon is down. GREAT album.
Jamie: So lets talk about fans. Do you feel sites like myspace and facebook have helped you to develop a solid fan base?
Matt M: Absolutely. We really have the coolest fans. They are so dedicated and just all around great people. Tts very inspiring.
Jamie: Have you had any crazy fan experiences?
Matt M: Haha we really haven’t.
Jamie: Phew. What makes a fan stand out to you?
Matt M: I think every fan is unique. I love talking to them after shows. I get a lot of great stories. those are always good
Jamie: Do you write songs together?
Matt M: Matt R usually writes the songs on his computer and gets most of it done, then we will throw some input. Matt R is the brains.
Jamie: Do you ever perform any cover songs?
Matt M: We always play Heaven. Every show.
Jamie: I take it it’s a real crowd pleaser?
Matt M: Very much so.
Jamie: That’s great! So…the age old question - sex, drugs or rock n’ roll?
Matt M: True love, vegetables, and dance.
Jamie: Great Answer. Any last words?
Matt M: Listen to the Minus Scale! GO VEG!
Jamie: Hehe. Thanks so much for your time!
Matt M: No problem!
