Yah.
It’s been forever for me. Sorry guys!
I graduated college and have been working a full time job! Just saving up money until I go to BU. I decided to put aside my dreams of going into music industry, and now want to do PR for a non-profit in a music organization maybe like save the music. Please comment if there are bands you want me to review, or interviews you want me to try to get.
Thanks
Jamie

Monday night I was fortunate enough (and when I say that I mean literally, the ticket cost me 170 bucks) to catch Britney Spears’ Circus Tour in Boston, MA.
Mind you, I am certainly not the typical Britney fan, but I saw her way back when she toured with NSYNC and jumped at the chance to see her comeback. Throughout her crisis, I have had a special place in my heart for Brit Brit. Think about it, thrown into fame at a young age, something you can never undo. She will always be Britney Spears, and can never hide from that.
So my friends and I headed into the city for the show. We arrived to a stage set up like 3 rings of a circus, with a big pussycat dolls sign in the middle. After a minor, yet amazing, set by pcd, a bunch of circus acts headed on stage. For about 20 minutes the audience was entertained by clowns and stunt people. Then…Brit Brit came on stage.
For an hour and 40 minutes she performed, only really singing 1 song, or so it seems. She dressed in so many different costumes, sometimes rather scantily clad. She was a police officer for womanizer, and a circus ring leader for circus. There was an opening video featuring the very amazing PEREZ HILTON which was awesome. The entire show featured a huge round screen, which had different videos depending on the song. My favorite was for ‘Piece of Me’ which featured all of the lyrics, this is one of my favorite Britney songs, so I think that’s why I liked it so much.
The show was amazing. She brought out some great hits: toxic, piece of me, circus, everytime, baby one more time, slave for you, and many more.
Cheers Britney, what a comeback!

Where did you come up with your name? It is very interesting.
Jonas is the main character in a book written by Lois Lowry called The Giver. He lives in a society where every risk has been reduced in order to be as safe as possible. This safety has resulted in a “sameness”; a way for everyone to live a smooth life free from disturbances like pain, anger, or fear (they do this by taking pills that make them forget their emotions and dreams).
On the surface, this seems like a good idea. After all, no one wants to be hurt. Jonas, however, starts to notice something that bothers him: by avoiding the risk of pain, the people have lost their chance for real happiness. “Happiness” is only “happiness” because it is the opposite of “sadness”. You would not recognize “hot” if you did not know “cold”. “Good” is only “good” because of how bad “bad” feels. In their quest to get rid of pain, they have eliminated everything that could have also given them pleasure; things like love, dreams, weather, jobs, physical differences, color, and music.
Jonas begins to question the way his society works as he gets older and he begins to experience things that other members of his society do not experience. He begins to fall in love. He thinks about things he is not allowed to think about. He dreams. And, one day as he is playing catch with an apple, he catches a glimpse of red. Just for a second, Jonas sees in color.
The society chooses Jonas to become the “Receiver of Memory”, the person who carries the burden of all the memories, experiences, and dreams of the entire society. The old man who has been the “Receiver of Memory” now becomes the “Giver”, who is in charge of giving Jonas knowledge of all the things society has eliminated from the world. As he learns these things, Jonas begins to see color in a world that was previously black and white. And then…you have to read the book to find out.
One of the most common explanations for the purpose of art is that it is a way of expressing things you could not otherwise express. Art, in many ways, can be a very selfish and vain thing: you think that what you have to say is actually worth being heard. As simple as that sounds, it is a very powerful and dangerous statement. We, Jonas Sees In Color, have a lot to say. We want people to listen and we want them to be able to feel what they hear.a
Just like the Giver was able to express thoughts and ideas to Jonas in a unique way, we want to provide our listeners with unique experiences that allow them an accurate and effective glimpse into the stories, feelings, and ideas that we think are important enough to share. We want people to see what we see and to be free to think what they want about it.
We have a lot to say. Keep listening.

What’s the best show you’ve ever played?
Any hometown show is always amazing! The last one at Greene St we had a crazy light show and covered Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen… It was so much fun!
Have you had any embarrassing moments while performing?
I (Owens) Throw my guitars around me a lot and at one show I went to throw it and broke the screw that bolted my strap to my guitar. My guitar flew across the stage and nearly took out Mikey. Ive fallen twice on stage too… so embarrassing!
What’s your favorite song on your ep Avalanche?
My personal favorite is Luck and Love. I just think it is a hard hitting song to play live, and I just think its a catchy tune.
Do you have any band rituals or strange things you do?
Everything we do is strange… everything.
Do you have any crazy fans? If so, what have they done?
Our friends are amazing! People bake us cakes and bring us candy everywhere in the US we play! I would love to try some of everyones Mac&Cheese recipes around the country :). I have met some strange people that I personally did not quite understand, but everyone is so nice and amazing to us!
What do you think makes your music stand out?
I think we sound like we do because we do not limit ourselves to one genre of music. We all come from different music backgrounds, and from that produce a sound that we believe is unique and speaks from our hearts. Its hard to write music thats got some soul to it if your trying to sound like some other band. We just write what we do, and if we like it we keep it.
What song do you wish your band had written/recorded/performed?
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
Word association: What do you think of when you hear these words?
-
Cat - woman
-
Elevator - button
-
Handlebar Mustache - trimmer
-
Prince -f resh
Any final words? Thoughts? We have too much fun :)

Lady Gaga. To be honest, I predict this could be her year. “Just Dance” has been out for quite some time now, but like every other song that rings through the heads of America’s youth, it took quite some time to achieve it’s current amount of popularity.
I cannot hear this song without singing along, without bopping my head to the beat. My friends love it, and to be honest I love it. At first I was weary of a song which condoned getting so drunk that you lose your phone, have your shirt turn inside out and not remember what club you’re in, but I honestly cannot get the toxic melody out of my head.
So I guess to me “Just Dance” is just the tip of the ice berg for Lady Gaga, and I am honestly excited about what is yet to come.

This morning when I woke up “Digital Get Down” by nsync was stuck in my head for some strange reason, probably the most awkward song to wake up singing. Thinking back on my nsync fanhood, or well…obsession, I am surprised that this song never struck me as odd before.
Picture it: I was a 12 year old almost teenie bopper listening to a song about people doing not so nice things over the Internet? I saw nsync with my dad multiple times, how awkward?
Thinking back, I don’t recall much concern about this song, but when I really think about it, parents should have been in uproar. I mean sure, all nsync songs have a hint of sexual innuendo, but this is talking about cybering! 14 year olds don’t have any idea what’s going on when they listen, so I guess it’s like Shrek…but unlike Shrek, no one is really enjoying the hidden message.

I have always loved my name…Jamie. Five letters, which thrown together, to me make a rather unique name…a mainly male name…but a great name at that. My dad named me Jamie, after a girl he met at Disney World, my mom wanted to name me Amanda (she wanted so badly to call me Mandy). Obviously my dad won that battle, because I have gone 21 years with the name Jamie.
When ‘Hey There Delilah’ came out, I started to get a little sad about my name because I couldn’t find many songs with Jamie in them. I have always known a song or two that I have loved, but lately my name has been coming up more and more.

- Dear Jamie - Hellogoodbye
- Jamie - Originally by Weezer, but I LOVE the Dashboard Confessional cover
- Jamie All Over - Mayday Parade
There are a few others out there, but these are my favorite. When I hear these songs, all I can think about is who could this Jamie be?
Does your name have any songs?

The Ting Tings. What a band!
I discovered The Ting Tings this summer while I was living and working in London. I can honestly say that the UK probably has the best music out there, not only from UK bands, but from American bands who get their head start in good ol’ Londontown. I spent my days at the music promotion company listening to BBC6, which for those of you who aren’t aware, plays the same 10 songs over and over…or from what I could hear they did.
Along with The Ting Tings, in London I found:
- MGMT
- CSS - Music is my boyfriend
- Ida Maria - I like you so much better when you’re naked
- The Cool Kids
London has probably the greatest underground music scene. While there, I met a band named Flyin Ike. They were a great group of guys, who I ventured to a pub to see. Also one of my internship co-workers was in an all girl band. How fun?

I went to see Seven Pounds last night. It was a pretty good movie, except my mom guessed the meaning of the title before we went, and thus, I knew the entire time what was going on. Don’t let your mom tell you what she thinks a movie is about, most likely she will be right.
There has always been a little part of me who has wanted to be the person who chooses songs for movies. I am still trying to figure out how I could get that job…
Anyway, as cliched as it is, the Garden State soundtrack is probably my favorite. I can honestly say that I can recite every word to every one of those songs. I think that sound track perfectly fits the movie.
The worst is when songs do not go in a movie at all, or if a song is taken totally out of context to fit in a movie.
To go back to the beginning, Seven Pounds featured a song by Nick Drake titled “One of These Things First” which was also in Garden State. Hmmm…the song fit both movies perfectly, but when I heard it all I could think of was Garden State…hmmm

Hope everyone had a safe, happy new year celebration! Can’t wait to see what 2009 has to bring (other than my college graduation eeeek).

So. Boys Like Girls has been one of my favorite bands for a while. It is cool because the members are from MA, so you could technically see them while they are home, in fact, rumor has it Martin Johnson grew up within walking distance of my college. Heels Over Head is my favorite BLG song.
I thought I’d do a simple post tonight, paste the lyrics and let you read them and fall in love with this song like I have.
Heels Over Head - Boys Like Girls
I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby
Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes
You were worth the hundred thousand miles
But you couldn’t stay awhile
I got your little brown shirt in my bottom drawer baby
And your little white socks in the top drawer
You were always leaving your shit around
And gone without a sound
Yeah I’m the first to fall and the last to know
Where’d you go?
Now I’m heels over head
I’m hangin’ upside down
Thinking how you left me for dead
California bound
I got a first class ticket to a night all alone
And a front row seat up right by the phone
Cause you’re always on my mind
And I’m running out of time
I’ve got your hair on my pillow and your smell in my sheets
And it makes me think about you with the sand in your feet
Is it all you thought it’d be?
You mean everything to me
But I’m the first to fall and the last to know
And where’d you go?
Now I’m heels over head,
I’m hangin’ upside down
Thinking how you left me for dead
California bound
And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me
And how I’m stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be
You’re burnin’ bridges baby
Burnin’ bridges, making wishes
Yeah you’re burnin’ bridges baby
Burnin’ bridges, making wishes
You’re burnin’ bridges baby
Burnin’ bridges, making wishes
Yeah you’re burnin’ bridges baby
Burnin’ bridges, making wishes
You’re a chance taker, heartbreaker
Got me wrapped around your finger
Chance taker, heartbreaker
Got me wrapped around your finger
I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby
Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes
If I drive a hundred thousand miles
Would you let me stay a while?
Now I’m heels over head,
I’m hangin’ upside-down
Thinking how you left me for dead
California bound
And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me
And how I’m stuck here with the ghost of what we used to be
Now I’m heels over head,
I’m hangin’ upside-down
Thinking how you left me for dead
California bound
And when you hit the coast
Maybe you’ll finally see
And then you’ll turn it all around and you’ll come back to me

Welp. Myspace has been so helpful to many people. Many bands get most of their exposure through myspace, so I decided it would be beneficial to promote this blog through myspace.
